After the New Year's festivities, a tourist lost over Dh76,000, but Dubai Police returned his money in less than thirty minutes.

After the festivities, the authority received a call at two in the morning from a tourist reporting that he had left his luggage in a taxi, which contained substantial amounts of cash on his way home, including $17,000 and Dh14,000 in dollars and dirhams.

The police squad got to work right away trying to identify the taxi. Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of Dubai Tourist Police in the General Department of Criminal Investigation, stated, "Within a few minutes, they successfully traced the taxi the tourist had taken to his hotel and then communicated with the driver to return the money pouch."

Jallaf commended the taxi driver for his prompt assistance in helping the authorities retrieve and give back the money to the tourist, all the while acting with the utmost integrity in protecting it.


When the traveler got the money pouch and the full amount, he was very happy. He expressed his sincere appreciation to Dubai Police for their swift handling of his report.
