The first passenger train service in the UAE between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah is provided by Etihad Rail.
When the service is up and running, employees and contractors of Adnoc will be able to travel between the two locations.
On Thursday, Etihad Rail ran the inaugural train service between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah.
When the rail service, which is presently being developed, is operational, employees and contractors of ADNOC will be able to travel between the two locations.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director and Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), accompanied by members of Adnoc's Executive Leadership team, made this historic journey.
Dr. Al Jaber visited Adnoc's downstream and petrochemicals hub in Al Ruwais Industrial City after the historic trip. He received updates on the Ruwais LNG project, Adnoc Refining, and Borouge 4's strategic growth initiatives during the tour.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber: "Adnoc's collaboration with Etihad Rail is perfectly in line with our strategic objectives to effectively execute transportation solutions that support the growth and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates in the future. Under the direction of Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, and in accordance with the visionary directives of our leadership, the development of passenger rail services between Abu Dhabi City and Al Dhannah City aims to connect the main centers of trade, industry, manufacturing, production, logistics, and population in the United Arab Emirates.
There is more to the Etihad Rail project than just a rail system. For the benefit of the UAE and its citizens, it will act as a crucial conduit for infrastructure development and economic expansion while promoting decarbonization."
"We have top-notch facilities in Al Ruwais Industrial City, and our staff is committed and passionate about showcasing our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. These are two things that make us proud." He continued, "Our facilities and knowledgeable workforce are essential to improving our country's standing as a trustworthy and accountable global energy leader.
With sulphur products already being transported by rail between Shah and Habshan to the export point at Al Ruwais Industrial City, the rail passenger service is an extension of the close strategic partnership between Adnoc and Etihad Rail, allowing Adnoc Sour Gas to be a leading global sulphur producer.
"We were pleased to host Adnoc's executive leadership team on board the first rail journey between Abu Dhabi City and Al Dhannah City, and we are proud to have a strategic partner and customer such as Adnoc, who were one of the first companies to adopt rail transportation solutions in the country," said Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, in reference to the strong partnership between the two companies. We continue to work toward the creation of an integrated national transportation system in compliance with the directives of our astute leadership and under the direction of our Chairman, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of our continuous efforts to forge strategic alliances in both the public and private sectors.
"By offering more efficient and dependable transportation solutions in accordance with the highest international standards and connecting cities and industries with a safe and sustainable rail network, Etihad Rail is strengthening the position that the UAE enjoys as a leading global hub within the logistics, transportation, and infrastructure sectors."
